Carn Wheelers Weekly Report – W/C 25th May
Friday 29th May –The beginners cycle were out again for the 3rd instalment to date, this was a successful and enjoyable evening for all involved, taking in a route of the Wood Rood Course – these cycles will be continuing every Friday at 7pm – all are welcome! Anyone available to help out at these cycles would be greatly appreciated.
Carn Wheelers Ras Donegal 5-7th June – this race now in its 25th year will take place in Ardara Co. Donegal starting on Friday 5th June with a 30 mile evening road race. Saturday will continue with Stage 2 Hill climb TT in the morning followed by stage 3 in the afternoon through the hills of Donegal and finishing with Stage 4 Glengesh gruelling climb on Sunday 7th June.
Carn Wheelers Ras Donegal Team is as follows:
Johnny Mc Conomy, Gerald Scullion, Nicky Gormley, Eunan McAleese, Paddy Kelly, Mickey Kelly, Barry Russell, Joe McCrory.
Marc Heaney has been selected to compete with the Belgium Project Team for this year’s Ras Donegal. The team has one espoir and 4 juniors competing in the 25th edition of the great race. These young men are the future talent of Irish racing and we wish Marc a safe and successful race this weekend.
Marc had a winning week starting with Spires TT Trilogy Round 2 at Toome on Thursday 28th May – Marc came 2nd in the TT bike section. The Red hand Trophy on Saturday 30th May where he finished in an impressive 8th place. Marc topped of the weekend nicely with an outstanding 2nd place finish at the inaugural Dunloy GP. These fantastic performances from the young man looks set to have him in top form going into Donegal this weekend.
Spires TT Trilogy Round 2 at Toome (Thursday 28th May) – Nicky Gormley dominated the road section of this race with another win making him the man to beat in this category! Well done Nicky, superb performance once again.
Gran Fondo – Carn Giro Team training continues with the miles on the up for some during the week and weekends– keep up the good work lads and lassies!
