GREAT RESULTS FOR CARN WHEELERS AT ROUND 2 OF THE ULSTER XC MTB LEAGUE
Sunday the 12th of April saw the carn wheelers mtb crew head to Colebrooke Estate in Fermanagh for round 2
of the ulster xc mtb league.
Due to a class with some road races numbers weren't as high as usual but we were still well reresented in most categories. Our first racers to the line were Travis Harkness and Curtis Neill both boys as always gave their all and were rewarded well with Travis coming 4th and Curtis 7th. It was then the turn of the under 12's and with no boys for carn today it was left to the girls to bring home the spoils and they didn't disappoint with
Katie Neill taking 1st place Eva Gordon in 3rd and Sara Doyle in 4th. In the under 14 race Niall Skelly and Andrew Gordon were in the boys race and Sarah Elder and Darcey Harkness in the girls all 4 riders had superb races with Andrew finishing in 4th and Niall 5th and in the girls race Sarah took 1st place with Darcey in 2nd.
Again we had 2 girls in the under16 race with Niamh Skelly and Emma Elder there were mixed fortunes for the girls with Niamh taking the win and Emma having to retire due to a flat wheel.
There were only 3 senior riders today for the carn wheelers with Gareth Skelly , Darren Mulholland and
Tomas Mcelwee all 3 men had very strong races but it was Tomas who really shone today with a fine 2nd place Finish .Darren and Gareth rode strongly to finish in the top 20.
Well done to everyone who represented the club at todays races as usual you have all done the club proud .
A big thanks must also go to Caldwell Cycles who had to go to great lengths to secure a venue for the race after their usual venue was closed due to tree felling as always the organisation and refreshments were top class i know our members all enjoyed your hospitality.
