Round 1 - Wood Road RR - Results

Tonight the Carn Wheelers club road race season kicked off on the much love ;-) Wood Road course in Tobermore.  Almost 40 signed on before the 7pm kick off, for the 4 lap race, with riders from as far as Omagh lining up on this bright but cold evening.

A 6 minute handicap between the 1st group off and scratch proved to be just perfect, as all came together on Tobermore Main Street on the last lap, with just the dreaded Wood Road hill finish to contend with.

Although some might not like to admit it, but age seemed to be the deciding factor on this last sprint climb, with Marc Heaney of NRPT taking the chequered flag for 1st, and Conor McCann of Dig Deep Inspired Cycling and Stewart Thompson of Spires neck on neck to the line, with Conor grasping 2nd and Stewart 3rd.

Marc Glendinning of Spires pulled out a fantastic 4th after his superb weekend at the Lakeland 2 Day, and all the way from Omagh, Calvin Moore of Caldwell CC in 5th.  Carn Wheelers Ali Gribbon, Joe McCrory and Johnny Taylor slotted in the next 3 positions, with Marty Bradley (North West CC) and John McLaughlin (CCT) finishing off the top 10.
