successful end to the mtb season for the carn off road team

Sunday the 6th of September saw the final round of this season ulster mtb league at Craigavon hosted by Apollo cc with a few changes made to the course from previous years and the dry conditions the racing was fast and furious in all categories . As always there was a strong carn wheeler presence in most categories.

The racing started with the under 6 fun race with Ciara Elliott taking part in her first race and doing really well to finish next up were the under 8 with James Russell and Patrick Elliott taking part with both riders coming home strongly after a fast race.In the under 10 race Travis Harkness ,Curtis Neill,Frank and Tom Russell were taking part in the boys race with Eimer Skelly in the girls it was a mixed bag for the boys with Travis having mechanical trouble and Curtis involved in a crash Travis placed 15th but Curtis was unable to continue Frank and Tom however had better fortune and despite not having raced for a few rounds fininshed in a strong 10th and 11th place next up were the under 12s with Ryan Skelly ,katie Neill and Eva Gordon taking to the line Ryan rode another great race to finish 4th and in the girls Katie continued her good form with a 2nd place finish unforunately for Eva she was unable to finish the race due to feeling unwell.Next of were the under 14 with Andrew Gordon ,Niall Skelly ,Anna Russell, Darcy Harkness and Sarah Elder all involved in the boys race Andrew Gordon continued his late season form with a great 3rd place and Niall closely behind in 4th in the girls race Sarah finished 2nd with Anna in 4th and Darcy in 5th .In the under 16 race Emma Elder and Niamh Skelly were lining out and both girls battled each other throughout the race for the lead with Emma just edging Niamh for the win on this occasion another 1-2 finish for the Carn girls.

In the junior men race Sean Bradley finished the season in style with a race win rounding of a superb season for Sean .

The Senior riders were also in action and the first race of was the S4 men with Darryl Mullan taking a brilliant 3rd place well done Darryl the senior 3 men were next up with Tomas Mcelwee the best placed Carn wheeler in 9th place with Shane Elder and Gareth Skelly also finishing strongly. The last Carn Wheeler to race was Barry Russell in the S2 race again Barry rode really stronglyand just missed out on a top 10 finish coming home in 11th place in a really strong field of riders .

As always the Carn Wheelers did the club proud once again and are to be congratulated on their seasons efforts keep up the hard work and well done on a great season.
