Wood Road Race Course

Thur, 16/07/15 - Wood Road course.

Well Done to Tomas McElwee who took victory at Carn Wheelers Road Race on Thursday Night.

It was a very wet and miserable evening, with the course shortened to 3 laps with only 2 groups setting off with a 4 min gap in between.

Scratch group gradually closed the gap and starting the last lap it was down to 1min30sec.

At this point Harvey Barnes of ETCC put in an effort going up the hill but Joe McCrory followed his wheel and the 2 of them managed to pull clear of the main field and start to work together to reel in the first group.

Up ahead Padraig Dougan and Shane Elder were using their experience well to keep first group away and after a few attacks, Tomas McElwee managed to break clear.

Tomas put in a great effort to stay away from the chasing first group to take the victory with a clear margin, with Shane the next Carn man home, followed closely by Joe and Padraig.

Thanks to everyone who took time out of their evening to help organise this race and also to the marshals and the supporters who braved the weather to cheer the lads on.
